My husband hosted an event and had an entire bag of limes leftover.
We didn’t want those limes to go to waste, so what do you do with an entire bag of limes?
Make a Key Lime Pie!
A traditional Key Lime Pie recipe calls for the smaller limes (Key Limes), but you can make it with the regular sized limes, like we did.
Preparing this dessert was much easier than I thought. And, it was pretty darn delicious!
Because of the sweetened condensed milk, this recipe is not for the faint of heart, or for any folks that are looking to drop a few pounds…
But, if you have extra limes lying around that you don’t know what to do with, and you want a Sweet and Tangy dessert, try this recipe. You won’t be disappointed.

- 1 & ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 6-8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1¼ cups fresh lime juice
- Two 14-ounce cans sweetened condensed milk
- 8 egg yolks
- Pinch of salt
- Lime slices and zest, for garnish
- Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter, and press it into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Bake it for 12 minutes, then let it cool to room temperature.
- Whisk together the lime zest, egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk, and lime juice, until slightly thickened, then set aside.
- Pour the thickened filling into the pie crust and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes until it is mostly set, but still jiggles a little bit.
- After the pie cools to room temperature, refrigerate it for a few hours.
- Top with a sprinkle of lime zest.
