Do you know the only way to heal your thyroid? Here it is…

I received an email from a woman named Judy. She said she’s unsubscribing from my thyroid list because, “The Medical Medium’s book on Thyroid Healing is the only way to go.”

I love when someone finds the “only way.”

I hope she remains open to learning more while she’s on her healing journey.

Every few years a healing concept enters the mainstream that people go ga-ga for.

And, then… a few years later, the next new concept comes in and sweeps the masses. And, on and on it goes.

I really liked Anthony William’s book on Thyroid Healing, and I loved his book, The Medical Medium. I thought it was excellent and filled with great content. I especially liked his use of herbs for healing. As an herbalist and chef, I’m a big fan of using plant medicine.

Anthony William’s book reminded me of a book I read decades ago called The Cure for All Diseases by Dr. Hulda Clark. She was a naturopath who was ostracized and called a “quack” by the medical community because she said that bacteria and parasites were the cause of all, or most, diseases. She espoused the use of herbs, foods, supplements, and electromagnetic therapy to zap offending pathogens and rebuild the immune system.

Anthony William’s concept that viruses, specifically Epstein Barr (EBV), is the cause of all (or most) disease mimics what Dr. Clark spoke of in the 1990’s.

I think both Hulda Clark and Anthony William have a LOT of great information that goes against modern medical protocols, and that of course creates tremendous resistance from the dinosaurs (conventionally trained doctors and BIG Pharma).

Years ago, I too wrote about antigens and parasites and other unsavory bugs that take up host in the human body. And, when their numbers grow out of proportion, they can wreak havoc and eat most of your nutrients (Got Parasites in Your Body?).

I also wrote about auto-immune conditions like Hashimoto’s and graves, and how the body is NOT mistakenly attacking the glands, there is a reason for it: viruses and bugs (What do you think all autoimmune disease has in common?).

But, in both of those articles, I shared that it’s imperative to keep in mind that we need bugs, and parasites, and viruses, to help our body perform at it’s best.

We need to figure out why the body and the immune system is out of balance in the first place, and it is unable to keep our pathogens in check.

Over 90% of the population has EBV. There must be a reason for it. Viruses proliferate and spread when there is an imbalance.

Recent studies on viruses reveal that they do some good in the body. For example, when scientists wiped out the gut flora of mice with antibiotics, a virus (norovirus) in those mice helped support their immune system while their gut health was compromised.[1]

The majority of the human population has some form of compromised gut health as well. We see it all the time: indigestion, bloating, excessive gas, SIBO, acid reflux, diarrhea, pain, and gallstones.

Something to ponder is that maybe EBV is common among us because we’ve diminished a wide variety of our intestinal flora. We’ve done that in a myriad of ways; antibiotic abuse, lack of breastfeeding, high stress, crap food, and of course, my favorite way that humans unintentionally destroy the diversity of their microbiome, eating out of season.

It would be wise to restore the health of your gut and create a more diverse microbiome while you are in the process of healing your thyroid and use specific herbs to keep the EBV viral loads down.

If you don’t, you may just be putting a bandaid on a condition that doesn’t have what it needs for deeper healing.

So, as you continue your own journey toward healing your thyroid condition, remember that there is more than one way to heal, there’s actually a multitude of ways to heal.

Try them all.
